Feels like I haven’t posted on Jpop in forever DX

I haven’t been able to post on much Johnny’s stuff on this blog because there have been so few releases this year. I’ve been looking forward to Yamapi’s 2nd solo for a long time, and the short version of the PV is finally out!

I also love those covers. Yamapi looks awesome <3

The single will be released November 18. (more…)

bigbang1 bigbang2 bigbang3

Big Bang’s 3rd Japanese single will be released November 4th. I was quite disappointed with their Japanese album – it certainly wasn’t bad musically, but it wasn’t on the level of their Korean hits. Koe wo Kikasete is the theme song for Ohitorisama, a drama I’m thoroughly enjoying right now.

SHINee – 2009, Year of Us: So fantastic.

SHINee's 2009, Year of Us

This release came as a surprise for me – I never imagined that SHINee would choose to end the year with a mini-album, rather than a string of promotional songs. For those who have already listened to the most elastic song ever, you can immediately tell that this album is going to have an experimental flavor to it.

(I was waiting to review this until my copy gets here, but seeing as they delayed CD production and YesAsia is only going to ship my order on the 26th.. there’s no way I could wait that long…) (more…)

SHINee and the terrible, horrible, no good, very bad hair day – but awesome comeback.

There were rumors that SHINee’s full-length album was going to be released on September 26, and I bitched when it didn’t happen. When it was announced that SHINee would release a mini-album, titled 2009, Year of Us on the 19th, I got really high but started bitching again because I’m sick and tired of all these mini-albums. Then, they started releasing teasers and photos, and here’s where the REAL bitching (and fangirling) starts. (more…)

Jdrama Autumn 2009 Preview

Photobucket

Last season was just so disappointing. The only drama I actually watched all the way was Teioh (I mean, how sad is that?).
For autumn though, there are a lot of dramas I’m interested, so let’s hope this season is better than the last.

No pictures because I’m really really lazy right now; this post was done completely half-assed. Links will direct you to the DramaWiki page.  (more…)

October Status

Hi everyone! Just wanted to update this blog with my current status…

School has been (unsurprisingly) suckish, and there’s a lot of work to do and weekends are hellishly busy, so I don’t think I’m going to be able to blog as much as usual for the next 3-4 weeks (I’ll be un-moderating comments for this time). I just want to get used to school and make sure I can balance everything.

As you can see from the little status blurb to the left, I’m currently working on the Jpop vs. Kpop article as well as the Autumn season drama preview.
I’ve finished writing the drama preview, just waiting for the promo posters to come out. I’m REALLY looking forward to a bunch of dramas this season, like Liar Game 2 and Shokojo Siera, and Ohitorisama.
As for the Jpop vs. Kpop post, that might take a while, especially if I don’t have time to blog, but it will definitely be up by the end of the year.

I’ll still be checking my blog feed about once a week, so I’ll still stay updated on what all you guys are posting!

It’s been six months since I started blogging, and I’m really happy that I’ve been able to keep this up. Thank you all soo much for your support! You guys are awesome!
For the 6-month anniversary, I prepared a sort of podcast thing, but due to circumstances, I’ll just post it at the end of the year.

I also have a Twitter page, so if you have a Twitter, I’d love to follow you!

Releases I’m enjoying right now:

MiChi’s UP TO YOU (MiChi MiChi MiChi MiChi MiChi MiChi MiChi MadNess!)
Tainaka Sachi’s Destiny
flumpool’s Frame
Nakashima Mika’s CANDY GIRL
Epik High’s [e]

I looooved the sweet, peaceful Love Is…, and I’ve been looking forward to this album a lot (so much, in fact, that I totally forgot about it >_>). I haven’t heard any of the songs except Unmeibito, so I’m not sure what direction Tainaka Sachi is going to take with this album. If you’re interested in hearing one of the best female vocalists in Jpop (IMO) give this girl a listen! (more…)

flumpool – Frame

Frame, featured in the My Navi CM, is flumpool’s new digi-single, which will be released October 14.

However much this sounds like Over the Rain, I absolutely love the song. Like Over the Rain, pretty acoustic guitars make up the backing track with the addition of more aggressive strums and drums for the chorus.

I was hoping for their next PV to be something like Natsu Dive, which was absolutely FANTASTIC, but Frame’s video is just the same as all their others – them performing on a plain floor. There’s a little more light on the set than Over the Rain, but that’s about the only difference I can see, besides all the 3D CG-ed effects that look like HP commercials.

Hopefully Frame is leading up to an album. Not a mini-album, but a full-length one, the whole enchilada. Preferably with rated-G cover (I purposely took my father to Kinokuniya to buy Unreal because I know he doesn’t look at what I buy). But yeah, a FULL-LENGTH ALBUM BOYZ YOU HEAR ME.
