A (sort of) fitting title for my (sort of) last post of the year – or at least before my scheduled “best of 09″ posts, which will be coming December 22, 24, and 26. As per this status post, I won’t be blogging until mid-January due to exams + vacation. Which is when I go
Can’t escape those big scary exams. They’ll come and getchu. But anyways.
Basically, from now until mid-January next year, I’ll be dead to the world (or the blogosphere, anyway).

There hasn’t been a single good Kdrama this year.
Yes, that includes BBF. IT SUCKED, K? IJAF.
But with all the idol drama going on recently, what better than a drama about idols?
You’re Beautiful is an absolute gem of a series – a spectacular combination of the gender-bender hilarity of Hana Kimi and Coffee Prince, and a foursome of gorgeous boys from Boys Before Flowers. It’s formulaic, but manages to be its own thing. Props to the Hong sisters for that.
So, a list of the ten highlights of this series – hopefully my friend passionfruitluver and I will be able to convince you to watch this series! It’s a collaboration, yo~

BANDAGE is the theme song for the movie BANDAGE, which stars Akanishi Jin. LANDS is composed of two members – Jin and producer Kobayashi Takeshi. The movie comes out January 16; the single was released November 25.
It wasn’t until this year that I started liking KAT-TUN – and not liking liking, just liking. I adored RESCUE as well as Kame’s solo 1582, one of the few songs I cared for on the Break the Records album. Then I took some time to listen to their older stuff and I fell in love with Real Face, SIGNAL, and Affection, a collaboration with Crystal Kay found on the Queen of Pirates album. That said, I’ll probably never be a fan, but I’m starting to tolerate them. Plus, Junno is so cute.
alan’s second album, released November 25, is incredibly average, given the standard that she’s set since her debut Ashita e no Sanka – an Oriental ballad that still goes undefeated.
Everything – from the messy, choppy introduction to the generic-as-hell ballads, to that first cover, in which she points at herself in a way so off-putting I can’t even describe it – is a 180 rotation from Voice of EARTH. alan took quantity over quality – and boy, is the quality of this album bad.
(I couldn’t bring myself to write two-four WHOLE sentences about ALL 14 tracks. That would be torture. So this isn’t really a review. It’s more like a twenty-sentence rant.)
LOVE is Otsuka Ai’s alter-ego bunny. LOVE will be releasing a mini-album LOVE.IT November 18.

Feels like I haven’t posted on Jpop in forever DX
I haven’t been able to post on much Johnny’s stuff on this blog because there have been so few releases this year. I’ve been looking forward to Yamapi’s 2nd solo for a long time, and the short version of the PV is finally out!
I also love those covers. Yamapi looks awesome <3

Big Bang’s 3rd Japanese single will be released November 4th. I was quite disappointed with their Japanese album – it certainly wasn’t bad musically, but it wasn’t on the level of their Korean hits. Koe wo Kikasete is the theme song for Ohitorisama, a drama I’m thoroughly enjoying right now.
This release came as a surprise for me – I never imagined that SHINee would choose to end the year with a mini-album, rather than a string of promotional songs. For those who have already listened to the most elastic song ever, you can immediately tell that this album is going to have an experimental flavor to it.
(I was waiting to review this until my copy gets here, but seeing as they delayed CD production and YesAsia is only going to ship my order on the 26th.. there’s no way I could wait that long…) (more…)
There were rumors that SHINee’s full-length album was going to be released on September 26, and I bitched when it didn’t happen. When it was announced that SHINee would release a mini-album, titled 2009, Year of Us on the 19th, I got really high but started bitching again because I’m sick and tired of all these mini-albums. Then, they started releasing teasers and photos, and here’s where the REAL bitching (and fangirling) starts. (more…)
